What to expect    How do I prepare

Ultrasound Imaging is often called sonography. Ultrasounds are a non-invasive procedure that involves no pain or discomfort. Ultrasounds utilize high-frequency sound-waves that produce real-time pictures of the inside of the breast. Ultrasounds show the structure and movement of the abnormality, as well as if there are blood vessels involved with the abnormality.

Ultrasounds are recommended for women of any age who have a palpable abnormality. Ultrasounds are also used after an abnormal finding on a mammogram, so that we can see if the abnormality is a cyst or solid mass, whether there is blood flow to it or not.
